10 Tips For Staying In Shape on The Road

  1. Workout in the morning.  If you don’t your day will get too busy and it will be hard to get a workout in.  It also helps you burn calories throughout the day 

  2. Pack healthy snacks. By the end of most of my trips I’ve usually gone through all of my healthy treats. If you don't need them fine but it's better to be safe than fat.   

  3. Have a game plan.  Lots of people consider fried food matched with a beer an awesome meal and can wait hours in between meals. This way of eating may not be awesome for you.  If you are around people that are going to throw you off, have a game plan.

  4. Fill up on real foods protein, fruit, & veggies.  This one may seem obvious, but it’s not, because so much marketing goes into promoting foods that you just don't need. 

  5. Variety is the spice of life.  If you can't stick with healthy foods, you may want to try some new menu options or you'll only last a day trying this new plan.

  6. No more diets.  Diet is such a nasty word.  You can only eat better if the healthy option tastes better than the vending machine and McDonald's, which can be hard to surpass.  Stick with our tips though because we will help you out with this.   

  7. But I love eating how long do I have to keep this up?  You can still have your favorite foods but in moderation.  Try taking it out of your diet for a week or two if you feel like you can't live without it, consider that as your warning that you may need a small break from it. 

  8. Stress eating.  This one I'm guilty of all the time.  When I have a hard problem to solve I reach for a snack and then another snack.  It makes me feel great but it also sets me back about 1000 to 2000 calories per day and for some people they eat even more than that.  When you catch yourself doing this change to a healthy snack or get up and do something else immediately.  One pound is equal to about three thousand calories so use them wisely.  

  9. Boredom Eating.  You know what I'm talking about.  The type of day where lunch can't come fast enough.  Or because you're just watching television and it just feels nice.  Stop it and go find a better hobby. 

  10. Find Restaurants Ahead of Time 

    There's something fun about just going with the flow besides there's food everywhere right?  This maybe true, but now you're susceptible to tourist trap marketing and not necessarily the best spot to eat in the area.  Do yourself and your friends a favor and get on Yelp before  you go on your trip and find a few options in the city you are traveling to.  Most people don't plan this far ahead and will be grateful someone did the work for them.  Now there is no need for your menu to be disrupted. When I travelled to Venice, I told myself I was going to look up restaurants ahead of time but instead I got tired and lazy.  My girlfriend and I just jumped into the closest spot and we both got sick.  Plan and manage the result you want.
